Meet the Student Fellows

Jojo Martin '25
josiah.martin@tufts.eduHello! I am Jojo Martin and have been a member of the admissions office for two years as a summer intern, tour guide, and CSA. I am a senior from Damariscotta, Maine (a small coastal town famous for our oysters). I am double majoring in Music and Political Science. I play piano in lots of different student ensembles and bands including my band “Fease,” which just released our studio EP. I also am conducting polling research for the 2024 election as part of my work in Political Science. I love getting to share my Tufts experience with prospective students because I feel that Tufts is an incredibly unique and special place. I am excited to expand my work on the admissions team as a fellow.

Marlee Kitei '25
marlee.kitei@tufts.eduHi everyone! My name is Marlee Kitei and I am super excited to be an admissions fellow this year. I am a senior from NYC majoring in Film and Media Studies and minoring in Entrepreneurship and History. On campus I have spent my time as a member of Tufts’ Co-Ed fraternity, ATO of Massachusetts, planning events for Women Entrepreneurs @ Tufts, and creating original recipes and graphics as a member of The Palmier, Tufts’ Culinary Magazine. Last semester I studied abroad in Florence which inspired me to sign up for my first art class at Tufts! The past few years have shown me what a distinct, inclusive, and creative place Tufts is. I’m looking forward to sharing my story with prospective students and hearing about how their unique experiences have given them a connection to the Tufts community. Outside of class you can find me baking for my friends or reading a book on Prez lawn.

Ruhama Mulugeta '25
ruhama.mulugeta@tufts.eduHiya! My name is Ruhama Mulugeta and I am delighted to be an Admissions Fellow this year. I am currently a senior studying Psychology, Entrepreneurship and German from London, England. I’ve had the pleasure of both participating in and serving as a team leader for a social mobility program focused on navigating higher education in the US. In light of this and my experience as a first generation, international student, I have observed the demands and challenges of the university application process. I am excited to listen to the exceptional and multifaceted accounts of our prospective international students and hope to provide valuable insights about the college admissions process to help alleviate the obstacles of applying from abroad. Outside of class and on campus, you’ll likely find me sitting on the grass, practising calligraphy or going on super long walks. I am also a proud Ethiopian Eritrean and love to attend cultural events surrounding my heritage.

Ryan Sorbi '25
ryan.sorbi@tufts.eduHello everyone! My name is Ryan Sorbi, and I'm excited to serve as an Admissions Fellow this year. I am a senior from New York City studying international relations with minors in economics, entrepreneurship, and finance, I've had the privilege of engaging deeply with the Tufts community. On campus, I'm the President of Persian Students Association and a Classroom Operating Officer at the Derby Entrepreneurship Center. My experience as the former Director of Tufts Student Giving has shaped my time at Tufts, allowing me to give back and help build a stronger, more inclusive campus community. As an Admissions Fellow, I look forward to using my experiences to support prospective students through the admissions process and to share the incredible opportunities at Tufts. Outside of class, you can catch me at any concert venue in the greater Boston area.

Soph Paris '28
sophia.paris@tufts.eduHi! I'm Soph Paris, and I'm so excited to be an SMFA Admissions Fellow this year! I'm a second year in the combined degree program studying engineering psychology and studio arts from Hilton Head, South Carolina. My favorite extracurricular activities include Project Linus, Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, and Saturdays at the President's Lawn Dog meet-ups. Last summer, I worked as an intern for SMFA Admissions, and I loved meeting prospective students and helping introduce them to all that Tufts and SMFA have to offer! When navigating my college decision process, I found so much support and kindness in the Tufts admission team—from portfolio reviews to answering my many questions. More than anything, I hope to provide that same support to prospective students so they can make an informed decision when choosing their college and undergoing the application process. If I'm not in the library or the studio, I can be found reading on a picnic blanket at one of Tufts' many green spaces or hosting Studio Ghibli movie nights in my dorm.

Carrie Ortner '25
carrie.ortner@tufts.eduHi everyone! My name is Carrie Ortner, and I am a senior from Scarsdale, New York. I study English as my major and Entrepreneurship and Engineering Management as my minors. I am excited to be a TA this semester in classes offered by the Derby Entrepreneurship Center. Outside of academics, I am a board member for Tufts Chabad House, and I am on the executive board of my local sorority, The Ivy. I applied to be an Admissions Fellow because I just finished my second year as Student Coordinator for FIT, a Tufts pre-orientation program, and I wanted to find another position that would allow me to make a positive impact on my fellow Jumbos. I loved being able to support incoming first-years in their adjustment to campus life during their first week at Tufts. I can't wait to work on programming that will help applicants better understand the Tufts community and display all the amazing things Tufts has to offer!

Sam Berman '25

On campus, I’ve been actively involved as the Business Director of the Tufts Daily (our student-run newspaper), the Vice President of Logistics for the Tufts Economics Society, and a statistics teaching assistant. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing golf and pickleball, swimming, and trying out new restaurants. I’m looking forward to meeting future Jumbos and sharing in their excitement for the next chapter of their academic journey!
