Earlier this month, I had the most sobering realization while registering for fall 2020 classes. Class registration is always an exciting time for me—I enjoy the prospect of taking new courses, fulfilling requirements, and meeting new professors and classmates. But when I enrolled in courses for senior fall semester, I couldn’t help but think about how quickly I’ve come to my senior year. This was one of my last times registering for courses, trying to coordinate my schedule with my friends so we could be in the same classes, and emailing professors to let them know how excited I was for their course. Your time at Tufts certainly flies by.
And in that time, I’ve had memorable experiences and plenty of academic and personal growth. Which is exactly what I wanted from my college experience—I wanted to learn on a campus that was both globally connected and its own unique community. I truly believe Tufts was the only place that offered that to me. It was the perfect fit. And from exciting coursework to amazing connections with professors and alumni, I’m extremely lucky to look forward to my senior year of Tufts with a sense that I’ve accomplished much of what I wanted to during college. But at the core of why I chose—and continue to choose Tufts—are my friends.
I’ve made lifelong friends who share the same passion as I do for learning. I remember making friends my first semester at Tufts and thinking I’d barely see them on campus—now some of my closest friends are ones I made during Orientation week. Some of my favorite extracurricular activities—like writing for The Tufts Daily—have not only kept me in constant connection with what’s going on around campus but have also given me my best friends. There’s so much about Tufts to love, but I think the community that I was able to build was absolutely life changing. I don’t think a single other college I applied to came close to that.
