Tufts offers various types of resources to its students living on-campus and off-campus. The resources range from academic help to the University Chaplaincy, so students can feel supported and receive help when needed. Of the many resources offered at Tufts, I have been using two resources in particular since freshman year: the Career Center and the Academic Resource Center (ARC).
First, the Career Center is located in Dowling Hall and everyone has access to the center, even alumni. The career center can help you strengthen your resume and cover letter when applying to jobs and internships and explore different career paths. They often host workshops, networking programs, and industry career fairs to help you get your foot in the door. You can also sign up for 1-on-1 appointments with a career advisor! I often sign up for 1-on-1 appointments when applying to internships to have a professional career advisor look over my resume and cover letters. I find the appointments and the career center website very helpful. Even if you are a freshman or sophomore and may not be looking for a job at the moment, the website has a lot of information on different careers and can help you explore what you want to study.
Second, the Academic Resource Center is for getting additional help in a class you find challenging, writing help for an essay for a class or personal statements for internship programs, and if you want to hone your study skills. There are subject tutors that teach specific courses in math, science, and languages. There are also writing tutors who are usually graduate students that can give feedback on your writing and help improve your writing skills. In addition, there are tutors who can help you manage your time better and learn better study skills. Whatever you are having difficulties with or you just need feedback on work, you can make 1-on-1 appointments with a tutor or go to a group session! They are free for Tufts students, so I would definitely recommend signing up for a tutoring session!
There are numerous other resources available, and I wanted to share the two in particular that I have been using often. The career advisors and tutors are kind, knowledgeable, and there to help you! You can find the various resources offered at Tufts here: https://students.tufts.edu/resources
