Campus Activities & TUSC

Apr 06
Zaya Jargalsaikhan Jumbo Talk

Due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, many campus activities had to be creative to be mindful of everyone’s safety. We could not have spring break due to the pandemic; however, we are having a “Staycation.” The Tufts University Social Collective (TUSC) planned a week's worth of amazing events for its students, such as Tie-Dye, Bingo (iPhone as the grand prize!), kickboxing classes, and more! I have been enjoying these events and wanted to share some of the events TUSC plans!

There are usually a few annual events that TUSC plans, and the Fall Gala and the Spring Fling are the most well-known. Fall Gala occurs every September and there are food, music, and outdoor lawn games. It usually is on the Academic Quad and it marks the end of summer and the start of fall semester. Spring Fling is a concert in March before the final exam period begins. It’s a live music event where rappers and singers like A$ap Ferg, TY Dolla Sign, Tinashe, and others have come to perform at the Prez Lawn. Unfortunately, we were unable to have Fall Gala or Spring Fling this year due to the pandemic. Besides these two, there are many other events that TUSC plans throughout the year!

This year, many of the events were virtual or grab-and-go to keep students safe while still getting the experience of a campus event. Despite this new mode of events, I believe TUSC has been able to successfully transition to still provide the students with campus events to keep them involved in campus life. If you are interested in planning fun events like these, you can apply to be in TUSC!
