Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year full of family and food that allows us to catch our breath and relax before we gear up for the final push towards exams in December. For you high school seniors out there, your exams are coming up too, but what you're probably thinking about more is the outcome of your ED applications. It's really unfortunate that ED decisions have to come right around finals, as they obviously make focusing on work and motivating yourselves for another semester of high school tough. I hope that all of you get into your ED school, and if that ED school is Tufts, then especially so, but the reality is that not everyone will have the outcome they hoped for in the ED round. I'm here to say that Thanksgiving is the prime time to start preparing the RD applications if you have not done so already.
I was lucky enough to be accepted ED 1 to Tufts, but many of my friends got bad news of a deferral or rejection from their top-choice schools, and then had to scramble to put together their RD applications in two weeks. No one wants to have to write that many supplements right after exams during winter vacation, so while you're stuffed with turkey and pie, think of getting a leg up with your applications. You're going to be gearing up for your final push of first semester anyway, so adding a little bit of work on apps over Thanksgiving won't fell burdensome or burn you out. Also, your work on RD applications will come before your ED decision comes back if you work over Thanksgiving, so any emotions that come with a disappointing ED outcome will not negatively affect your ability to get more applications done.
So here's to a plentiful Thanksgiving for you all, and a productive one as well!
