Question 3B - What Makes You Happy?
My limbs begin to shake; the movement climbs slowly, disturbing the curtains by my side. Processing what I am about to do, my nerves take over.
I pray for silence in a sea of boisterous conversation. The crowd settles, breaking the noise into whispered tones. My steps tremble as my heels strike in time with a growing confidence, echoing into the dark room. Seconds seem like hours, every movement is calculated and poised. In the dark I am alone in a space no one can touch. Anything is possible in the moment before the lights turn on. Everything my imagination can conjure lingers in the darkness. Here I have the power to tell any story, make a whole new world, and voice my truths. Fear becomes irrelevant. The rush, the uncertainty of what words might come out of my mouth when I open it, the opportunity to show you something that warms my heart and soothes my soul, all in the hope that you feel the same.
I take a deep breath, in hopes of capturing the universe. It has been building up, my vision tunnels, my pulse quickens, the hairs on my arms stand on end, and I let myself go. I perform.
