Tufts Cross Country Teams Qualify For NCAA Championships

Nov 19
Jumbo Talk

This past Saturday was only a reminder of how much I love this school and TUXC.  Both the Tufts men’s and women’s cross-country team finished 4th at New England regionals among a field of 53 teams, to qualify for the NCAA championships.  Here we come Hanover, Indiana!  I was not ready to end my college cross-country career, so I am thrilled that it has been delayed one more week.

The best part of Saturday was looking over across the field while doing pre-race strides and seeing the entire Tufts track team and cross-country team, comprised of about 50 people, running around the course.  The “TUXC crazies” were body painted, carrying large blown up head pictures of all of the Tufts men and women racing that day, and chanting “TUXC.”  I heard a girl from the team warming up next to us say to her teammate, “I wish we had that!”  Trust me, there is nothing like running a race and having the crazies screaming your name and waving your head at you all at once.

3 Rules of Being a TUXC Crazy:

  1. You must body paint
  2. Wherever the person carrying the Tufts flag goes, you go
  3. Don’t stop running from location to location to view the race, even if it means hopping through bushes or crossing rivers

Updates from TUXC adventures in Indiana coming soon!
