Top 3 places to study on campus

Aug 11
Jumbo Talk

Picture this scenario: we're three weeks into the semester, and your professor announces that Exam 1 is coming up in one week. You begin to panic and rush back to your dorm after class to begin studying. Your roommate walks in with their four best pals a few minutes later. It's suddenly louder in your room than a party. So, what exactly do you do? Take a look at these three great places to get some studying done at Tufts.

Ginn Library

This is my favorite studying spot on campus. It’s very quiet, but it has a public space too where talking is allowed. It's got a few private rooms. You can rent a private room to study or have a group study session. Ginn has the advantage of being close to one of the biggest Dining Halls on campus: Charmichael. If you’re like me and you like to eat in between study sessions, you’ll love Ginn. You can quickly stop by Charm to get a snack and get back to Ginn to continue studying.

Tisch Library

This is my second favorite spot on campus and the biggest library on the Medford campus. I particularly enjoy studying there during finals week. It’s got that pressure atmosphere where you see lots of people trying to grasp content from their classes. There are study rooms (noise-free) and open spaces (that can be very noisy sometimes). I always get hungry after spending too much time studying, so bonus points to Tisch for having the Hotung Cafe, where you can find amazing muffins <3

Eaton Lab

This is the collaboration spot on campus. Eaton has a lot of space for group study sessions and it also has whiteboards, pencils, printers, etc -- all you need! There’s lots of computers in case you forget your laptop too. The good thing about Eaton is that you can rent out ear buds, laptops, and chargers. And, they’ve got free candy! I remember this time I had my first night of binge studying in freshman year. I spent a whole night preparing for an exam the next day but didn’t have earbuds to watch the videos I needed. I simply rented one for free from Eaton -- and I ate most candies they had too :)

Tufts has many other spots where you can study -- Commons Marketplace, Campus Center, and many Department buildings. The top 3 in this blog are my favorite ones and I hope we get to enjoy them once the COVID-19 situation is controlled.
