Tips for Celebrating Your Acceptance to Tufts

Apr 28
Jumbo Talk

Congratulations on your acceptance to Tufts! It’s time to celebrate your success!

Here are some ideas for celebrating the big day you’ve been working so hard towards:

1. Explore Tufts either in-person or virtually.

If you live close, you may want to visit the campus in-person. Walking around the campus can give you a clear sense of what campus life can look like at Tufts. You may be able to interact with current students and maybe try out the dining options! However, visiting the campus in-person may not be an option for some. In that case, the Tufts admissions IG often hosts live IG stories to give tours, Q+A sessions, and more. You can join the live session to ask questions and interact with current students virtually.

2. Connect with other accepted students and current students via FaceBook and Instagram and reach out to them!

There are class pages on Facebook and Instagram that you can join to start connecting with other students who were also accepted to Tufts. Students introduce themselves and some important information is shared on the class pages. Also, you can start connecting with current students to ask about Tufts, specific clubs, and other questions you may have. I’m a blogger for admissions, so I have received a handful of DMs on IG asking about my major, certain clubs, and campus culture, etc. Many students at Tufts are welcoming and may be able to answer questions you may have about Tufts.

3. Have a day where you do things you want to do! You deserve it. Your hard work paid off and you should treat yourself!

On the day I found out about my acceptance, I had my favorite food and treated myself by doing the things I have been putting off to work on essays and studying for exams. During the summer before I came to Tufts, I had created a bucket list with my friends and we decided to start crossing off some of the things we wanted to do. I wanted to spend time with my friends since I knew I would be moving to the other side of the country in a few months (LA –> BOS).

4. Buy something elephant! After all, you’ll be a Jumbo for the next 4 years :)

When I began connecting with other accepted Tufts students, my IG feed was filled with pictures of elephant stuffed animals, light blue & white colors, and Tufts merchandise. I bought a Tufts quarter-zip when I found out I was accepted. I was given an elephant keychain and a carved elephant ring to celebrate becoming a Jumbo!

Congratulations again! You did it and we can’t wait for you to join us on the hill!
