Finding a spot to study is really important in college! Besides the obvious choice of studying at the library, there are other locations that are popular among Tufts students to study. I want to share a few of these popular spots!
Before I talk about the different study spots, I wanted to give a quick shout-out to the libraries on campus. The Tisch library is where most undergrads go to study. There is also Ginn library which is for graduate Fletcher students and the Lily music library in Granoff Music Center. If you are a Tufts student, you technically have access to all these libraries, but Tisch is probably the most popular. Besides these libraries, there are many other spots on campus that students opt to study at. Study spots can be personal because you may work best in a quiet space but your friend may prefer a more cafe environment with some background music and noise.
Here are a few study spots that come to my mind: Kindlevan Cafe in SEC, the Campus Center, and the Granoff Music Center. First, Kindlevan Cafe is located in the lobby of SEC. There are lots of tables set up for students to study, eat, or just to chat and catch up with friends. Like in the name, it has a cafe that can be your background music and you can get smoothies, snacks, and meals from there for your study break. It has a ton of natural light and heavy/medium foot traffic depending on the time you’re studying there. Next, the Campus Center (CC) is also a nice spot to study. I personally like the second floor of CC because it is quieter and everyone around you is studying, so I find myself being able to focus more. However, some students prefer to work on the first floor where there is the Hotung Cafe and the Commons. Lastly, the Granoff Music Center is for those who want to be in a quiet space that is not the library. I think Granoff is so peaceful and it’s usually quiet unless there is a band practicing. I like going to Granoff because it’s close to my dorm and I like the ~vibes~ there for studying.
As you get a hang of college classes and your study habits, you’ll find your favorite study spot! The ones I mentioned are some of the popular spots, but there are so many other underrated study spots. Maybe you can explore some of these spots on a campus tour!
