A Day in the Life of a First-Year Engineer

Hello everyone and welcome to a day in my life! I decided to take you through my Thursday since it’s my busiest but most exciting day of the week.
I wake up at 8:30 to get to my 9am, which is a 10 minute walk from my dorm... and I’m at most 2 minutes late, so that's a win in my book. The class “Compute Science for All” has been one of my favorites. As a Sociology and American Studies major, learning to code has been a nice break from the mountains of readings I’m used to doing every week.
Next, I zoom into my Intro to Sociology class! It’s been a nice foundational course for my major. Then, I have my lunch break. I usually go to Dewick or Carm with friends, or pick up a deli sub from Hodge. They’re exponentially better than Subway and a quick way to recharge.
After lunch I have my favorite class, Race and the Criminal Justice System. The course is exactly aligned with the work I hope to do in the future, and the professor is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. This class makes me miss high school where courses meet every day!
Then, I have a longer break before my last class of the day. I usually go to the Campus Center around 3 to do some work, but I’ve found myself heading back to my dorm to rest, taking a break to go into Davis, or hanging out in friends’ dorm during this break. At 5, my friend and I eat an early dinner before our respective late classes, and then I’m off to “The Gap Between Law and Justice” until 8:30.
After class, my body is ready to call it a day, so I take a nap before spending some quality time with my suitemates. Then, it’s time for bed. I hope you enjoyed walking through a day in my life!
