It's the Finals Countdown!

Dec 10
Iris Yang Jumbo Talk

Finals are upon us, whether it be exams, projects, papers, or trying to hang out with everyone before everyone breaks for winter. If you’re feeling those nerves, I’ll break down my relaxation methods to deal with this time of year. But first, give yourself a pat on the back: you’re almost done!

Baking and studying ????: I like to complement working with some good food, as it helps provide nourishment to the brain when you’re entering the focus zone. In fact, why not turn it into a fun night with friends? Make food together while talking, and then enjoy the sweet savoriness of whatever you baked as you crunch away.

Self-care night ????: Put away your computer for a couple minutes and soothe your skin with a face mask, letting the oils seep into your pores, whisking away the stress. Maybe do your nails, or try out new products together. You’ll feel great for just taking some time for yourself and it’ll be easier to slip right back in the zone.

Working out ????: Feeling frustrated or angry because you can’t crack that one tiny problem? Instead of letting your mind feel sore, let your body feel sore instead! Channel all that energy into running, stretching, lifting weights, cardio, or whatever else floats your boat. You’ll come out rejuvenated, ready to tackle the problem from a new perspective.

Mindfulness ????: On the flip side, if physical exercise is not how you calm down from finals frustration, put on some meditation music. Hearing the sound of the wind whooshing, rain gently tapping the ground, the occasional bird chirp, clear your mind and take deep breaths. Let the sounds of life flow around you, and in the midst, you gather your confidence quietly and open your books again.

Good luck everyone! You got this!
