Creative Writing: A Celestial High
An Ars Poetica poem refers to a poem that describes the art of writing poetry. After learning this term in my Creative Writing: Poetry course taught by the insightful and extraordinary Professor Ross, I wrote the poem below. To write poetry is to be under the influence on the moon - a celestial high.
A Celestial High
To lie on the lunar surface
in euphoric state of mind
and gaze at the cosmic realm
noting emerald celestial hues
questioning the beginning and the end
reaching out towards the Orion constellation
while the moon below is left behind
and you reach an elevated bliss
from the verdant, velvet leaves
that soothe the imprisoned mind
you become eager to translate such sentiments
into language
and such language into a story
as awe-inspiring as the universe
that sways to starry melodies in front of you.
