Cape Cod and Little Italy Trip

Going to Boston and exploring the greater Massachusetts area outside of Tufts has been my goal ever since I got here in August. This weekend I got to do just that when my Mom flew into town on Saturday. When she got here we immediately went to a well known spot in Boston called Yankee lobster near the harbor. They hand down sell the best lobster rolls in the city! If you come to Tufts for a school visit, make sure you have time to go eat at Yankee lobster. It is a little pricy but the lobster rolls as wells as the lobster bisque and clam chowder is to die for!

After we ate we drove about an hour and a half out to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This was my 3rd time going to Cape Cod but it never gets old. Being near the bay and the Ocean is a great get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is also a great get away to free yourself of stress and worry after taking midterms. The fall foliage was absolutely beautiful! You could smell the fresh air and the sea water from a mile away. There so many small businesses and quaint shops to explore in Hyannis and Cape Cod. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous it is very hard to put it in words.

On Sunday we drove back to the city and decided to have lunch in the North End in the famous little Italy neighborhood.  Little Italy in the North End is an essential spot to check out when you come to the Boston area or if you decide to come to Tufts. It is only a couple of train stops away from Medford and it is a great cultural experience. You can feel the flavor of the neighborhood. It still feels like a proud and uniquely Italian American neighborhood. Carmelina’s is also a must when you come to Boston. The Sunday macaroni there is scrumptious! I think it is still important to go to these cultural neighborhoods not only to support the people there but to learn about how other people’s culture helped contribute to America’s major cities.

There are so many sites to see inside of Boston and outside. Cape Cod and Little Italy are just two experiences you can have out of many that are available here. It was great to get out of the city for a day to clear my mind and it was also nice to experience little Italy in the city. Boston and its surrounding areas has so much to offer! That is what is so intriguing about being a Tufts student
