As I walked from my class in the TTC building to Tisch Library, I was fascinated to see so many students lounging on the President’s Lawn, basking in the sun and enjoying life. This week has brought a welcome change, with temperatures rising steadily and allowing people to dress more lightly. I’m a lover of mild weather — neither the scorching heat of summer nor the biting cold of winter suits me. This is the perfect time to recover from the harsh, unrelenting cold that has dominated the past few months.
Interestingly, when I asked my friends about their favorite season, the responses were evenly split. It reminded me to appreciate the beauty of snow during winter. Honestly, I sometimes wish it could snow every single day.
This winter has been memorable for me. I’ve made new friends, and some of our best moments were spent sliding on the snow together — pure bliss. But winter hasn’t always been kind. One weekend, I went to Boston and forgot to bring my heated gloves. The cold seeped into my bones, and I felt it in my bloodstream. It was a mischievous oversight on my part, but looking back, the experience feels more like an adventure than a misstep.
The days are finally getting longer. Over the past two or three months, the sun would set around 4 p.m., casting an early darkness over campus. But this magical week, the sunset has been lingering until 6:45 p.m., bringing a fresh, hopeful energy to the school. The mood on campus has noticeably lifted as everyone eagerly anticipates the long-awaited spring break.
The past two weeks have been intense, filled with midterm exams and non-stop grinding. Now, the idea of a break feels like a breath of fresh air. Some students are planning to visit family, while others are looking forward to vacations or simply catching up on rest. Even though spring break will only last a week, it feels incredibly important — a necessary pause to reset and recharge before the final stretch of the semester.
Saying goodbye to winter feels bittersweet. While I’ll miss the crispness of snowy days and the cozy gatherings with friends, I’m ready to welcome the warmth and renewal of spring. Life on campus seems to be coming alive again, and I can’t wait to see what the new season brings.
