Best Off-Campus Eats for Vegetarians

Apr 14
Ishika Gupta Jumbo Talk

At the beginning of this semester, I was worried about how I would find nutritious food options considering I
am vegetarian, but I was surprised with the variety of options on and off campus. After a rough year of not
getting nutritious meals and limitations on access to food options off campus at my previous school, Medford and Somerville
have been an amazing surprise for when I want a change from the dining halls and want to venture not too far
away from campus, but still get some interesting foods.

My number one food spot off campus is about a 10 minute walk from campus located near Powder House Park.
It's called Mint and offers great vegetarian options of Nepalese and Indian foods. On average a meal is
probably going to end up being approximately $15. My pick at this place are the Veggie Chilli Momos, they
definitely fill you up and are delicious.

My next pick is, Oath’s Pizza at Davis square. You can either walk to Davis which is a 12 minute walk or a 6
minute shuttle (shuttles leave from the campus center at Tufts every 30 minutes). This spot has some amazing
pizza options, you can even make your own pizza with the vast ingredient list they have. Beware if you have
allergies though because they make avocado oil crusts and they also offer chickpea base pizzas (mentioning this
because my friend is sadly allergic to both and can’t eat Oath’s). You can get a personal thin crust
classic cheese for about $14 which is a great option, and they have many sauces you can add.

The next pick is Sugar and Spice. To get to this spot you can take the shuttle to Davis and then walk for about
11 minutes to get there. They have Thai food with so many vegetarian options. They have curries and rice, Pad
Thai and salads. My personal favorite is the Pad Thai and I always get the Thai iced tea along with it. The vibe at
this place is also very nice. On an average you pay about $12.

These are a few of my favorite spots near Tufts to eat!
