5 Things To Do Over Spring Break

Mar 14
Beverlyn Medina Jumbo Talk

If you don’t know what to do during spring break here are 5 things you should consider...

Tip 1
Updating your resume or updating your LinkedIn. If you have downtime, you can use
this time to update on any new experience, skills, or accomplishments. Also,
adding anything new to your LinkedIn profile such as new clubs or making some new
connections. This can help with your networking.

Tip 2
Use this time to explore a new hobby or skill. You have a few days to just try something new,
such as making a new dish or painting with friends and family. Although it might seem like there isn’t much time during spring break, there's enough to just try things out.

Tip 3
Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community. It could even be a new community if
you're traveling. Whether it's a local food bank, animal shelter, or community shelter, there
are also a variety of different volunteering opportunities that aren’t traditional. You can even as volunteer for events, like theBoston Marathon. Giving back can be a rewarding experience, and it can also help you put
yourself out there.

Tip 4
Use this break to focus on your mental and physical health. That might mean playing pick-up games such as
basketball or soccer, or catching up with some old friends. You could be going to the gym, going
on a run outside, or taking a yoga class. If you are staying in Boston, Classpass is a great way to
get free credits to try a class for free! They have pilates, cycling, boxing, and so many more
classes that you can try. Go with a friend and get lunch after! Going on a hike can be
refreshing also, just as any form of exercise can be rejuvenating for your mental health.

Tip 5
Relax and recharge! Don’t feel guilty for not doing anything at all. Spring break should also be
about recharging your batteries and spending time with friends. This might mean playing video games,
binge-watching movies/TV shows, or just taking some time for yourself and doing your favorite
things. I’m sure many students will be spending some of their break catching up on sleep! Other students like tidying up their space, cleaning out their closet, or rearranging their furniture. A tidy space helps clear the mind and it can improve your overall well-being.
