Although the weather here in Massachusetts has been warm and sunny, our admissions team has been busy preparing for the fall season. We’ve updated our brochures, hired our tour guides, and dusted off our suitcases in preparation to meet prospective students across the country and the world this fall. 

In addition to our regular campus visit programming, which includes student-led tours and in-person or virtual information sessions with an admissions counselor, we have many special offerings scheduled for the autumn months. Read along as I share more about the events Tufts Admissions has planned for you and the differences between them! 

Fall for Tufts 

Our virtual open house series during which we introduce prospective students to the Tufts community is called “Fall for Tufts.” You can meet students, staff, and faculty across all three undergraduate schools from wherever you are! If you’re excited to learn from our professors and gain insight into the academic culture at Tufts, we offer mock classes, introductions to academic departments, and conversations with academic advisers. For those looking to hear from current students, we have panel-style events where our students will share their experiences and reflections with you, as well as answer your questions. We also host events with staff and students who are engaged with various resource centers, extracurricular programs, and campus facilities if you are interested in hearing more about life outside of the classroom. And lastly, but certainly not least, our admissions staff hold workshops where they give advice and clarify the college application process, which you might find helpful as you prepare your application to Tufts. Overall, Fall for Tufts is a rich showcase of life as a Jumbo that we hope makes you *fall* for us...and yes, the pun is intended! 

An Evening with Tufts 

“An Evening with Tufts” is an on-campus program we host on select evenings throughout the year, including several this fall. The event includes an information session presentation, which will cover Tufts’ academic offerings across its three undergraduate schools, research and internship opportunities, campus culture, financial aid, and our holistic approach to admissions. You’ll also get to hear from a panel of current students and ask questions. If you’re hoping to visit us in-person and meet admissions staff and students but are unable to come to campus during regularly scheduled campus visit “business hours,” this comprehensive event is perfect for you! 

Tufts on Tour: 

Through our “Tufts on Tour” series, Tufts Admissions hosts regional, in-person information sessions in various U.S. cities. These events offer a chance to learn more about Tufts, ask questions, and meet an admissions officer. The presentation will cover Tufts’ academic offerings across its three undergraduate schools, research and internship opportunities, financial aid, and Tufts' holistic approach to admissions. We welcome prospective students, family members, and counselors and college advisers from high schools in the surrounding community to join. “Tufts on Tour” sessions are similar to our “An Evening with Tufts” program, but we bring information and excitement to your cities! 

Best of Boston 

Tufts Admissions also collaborates with the admissions teams at Boston University and Northeastern University for a series of online events so you can learn about three leading institutions in the greater Boston area at once. Our joint presentations offer overviews of each university and focus on helping prospective students navigate the college search and application processes. Each admissions team will also discuss their approach to evaluating candidates to help the audience understand how the various components of your application are viewed by different admissions committees. Additionally, there are some specific sessions with student representatives from each university where they highlight the advantages of attending school in Boston and share how they incorporate the city and its opportunities into their college experiences. If you’re creating or refining your college list, completing your application, or are curious about the admissions process, these events will be useful to you. Time is reserved for questions from the audience in each program as well, so it is an optimal time to gather a lot of information! 

High School Visits 

Every fall, the Tufts Admissions team embarks on our “travel season” where we head off campus to meet with you! Whether by car, bus, train, plane, or ferry, we bring our knowledge and advice out on the road and enjoy informing you about Tufts at high school visits throughout the United States and around the world. These visits are usually held during the school day, or sometimes before or after school, and you can typically learn about the schedule of institutions visiting your high school through your school counseling office. High school visits are a wonderful opportunity to ask your questions, show your interest in Tufts, and learn more about the university! 

College Fairs 

Tufts Admissions also meets with students, their families, and counselors when we participate in college fairs. These are larger events where many institutions gather in one location during a set time. It is common that college fairs might be set up with tables or booths for college representatives and students can approach the representative to speak one-on-one or in small groups. You can introduce yourself, ask questions, collect printed materials, view displays, and hear more information about the university. College fairs are terrific for exploring your options and comparing multiple colleges through brief, efficient conversations!
