Perhaps the hill has something to do with it, but Tufts feels like a big campus. It can seem especially daunting when you learn that some classes might be held on the side of campus furthest from your dorm (or even on another campus!).
You’re in luck though, as there are a few different methods to getting around campus quickly.
1. The Somerville / Medford Shuttle Loop – The Tufts Somerville / Medford campus has a free shuttle that stops at about 4-5 different locations on campus. The loop will take you from the lower portion of the Campus Center, to Carmichael Dining Center, Olin, the upper portion of the Campus Center, and then off-campus to Davis Square (getting on the shuttle in Davis Sq. will get you back to the Campus Center).
2. The SMFA Shuttle – Whether you are pursuing a Combined Degree, just dabbling in art classes at the SMFA, or simply visiting the Fenway campus, all Tufts students have access to the SMFA shuttle. This shuttle ride is also free, and offers a much quicker option than taking the T.
3. Tufts Bike Share – During the warmer months, Tufts offers rentable bikes to students. The bikes are free to rent for up to 8 hours and come with a lock and helmet. You simply need your Tufts ID to rent them.
4. Tufts SafeRide – This one offers students a safe alternative to walking alone. You can learn more about it here.
