There’s a fit for every occasion and every vibe. My wardrobe certainly has had a glow up during my time at Tufts, growing to accommodate new crop tops, skirts, and jackets. Retail therapy has been one of my favorite ways to destress and have a fun weekend out with friends, although my bank account would beg to differ. Come with me as we plumb the depths of fashion in Boston!
In the heart of Boston is a lovely little street by the name of Newbury St. Among the cream of the crop of shopping centers, it also packs so many delicious restaurants and cute bubble tea stores. H&M is one of my faves, skirting (pun intended) the line between casual and stylish. You can also find Nordstrom, New Balance, Lululemon, and other brand stores here, or if you want something more local, try the cute little boutiques! Dresses with pockets anyone?
For a quick little mall trip, my place to go is CambridgeSide, near Lechmere. I went recently to buy some dresses for graduation, and found a yellow sundress and green shift dress at TJ Maxx for some great prices. Mango may be outside of your budget (dresses go for $130+!) unless you don’t mind being a little extravagant. Honestly, even if you didn’t want to spend any money, Cambridgeside makes a nice place for window shopping too.
No fashion trip could be complete without thrifting, and luckily, there are places right nearby. In Davis is the Buffalo Exchange, where you’ll often find quirky clothing of all different stripes. For those looking for more flamboyant styles or dressing up, this is the place to be. I got a cute top there for $10, and used it as part of my Halloween costume! Eco-friendly and chic, it’s no wonder why many Tufts students take to thrifting like a duck in water.
Of course, don’t be a stranger to spinning a yarn of your own! Crocheting and knitting are very popular hobbies at Tufts. Whether you prefer to thrift, buy online, or craft, you’re sure to find new ways to express yourself in what you wear and find students just like you!
