I can almost guarantee that Finn will tell you that it’s decent as he serves you, and I mean those will be his exact words. Just, “Eh, it’s decent.” If you're anything like me, odds are you aren’t accustomed to multi-course meals that were prepared over two days. And if some of the best food you’ve eaten is just decent, you may wonder how one signs up for a meal plan that sets this ridiculous standard. Don't worry – I’m confident the confusion is natural. Modesty to match the grace of his or her creations must be a requirement before any great chef dons the toque blanche. Still, the gustatory delight is far from the highlight of this evening. What I love about eating at Finn’s (unfortunately that’s not a restaurant he runs, though – and maybe better – it happens to be the kitchen just outside of my room) is the experience of a family meal. The delegation of the chopping and team-effort cleaning, the discussions and arguments, and the general good feelings are all there. Finn definitely loves to cook, and he has quite a skill set. What’s more, he loves to create this atmosphere. He just celebrated his birthday by cooking for over twenty people. It’s a pretty wonderful thing. And now for the shameless plug: it’s no surprise you can find it at Tufts.
You can catch Finn’s cooking at many a Tufts Singapore Student Association event (you’re welcome).
Happy happy happy birthday, Finn!
