One of the things I enjoy most about Tufts is the plethora of spaces available to study. Whether I’m in the mood for a quiet, tucked-away corner or a collaborative, light-filled room, there’s always somewhere on campus that fits the vibe I’m looking for. Where you study can really shape your learning experience—and at Tufts, there’s truly something for everyone.
1. Tisch Library – The Classic
Let’s start with the OG: Tisch Library. Located right at the center of campus, it’s a Tufts staple. You’ll find everything from silent study rooms to collaborative group spaces, plus a café if you need a coffee break. I love how the environment is dynamic—different floors have different energy levels, so you can always find your rhythm. It’s also a hub of student life, filled with people from all academic disciplines and backgrounds.
2. Edward Ginn Library – Quiet and Focused
Inside the Fletcher School, Ginn Library is a more hidden gem. It has a calm, graduate-level atmosphere, perfect for deep focus. I head here when I really need to get in the zone. It’s quieter than most places on campus, and the setting—surrounded by future diplomats and global leaders—is inspiring in itself.
3. Joyce Cummings Center (JCC) – Bright and Modern
The Joyce Cummings Center is one of the newest and most impressive buildings at Tufts. With its floor-to-ceiling windows and sleek, open design, it’s a great place for group work, casual studying, or catching up on assignments in between classes. It reflects the innovative, forward-thinking energy of Tufts, and it’s quickly become one of my go-to spots.
4. 574 Boston Avenue – Collaborative and Creative
Also known as the Collaborative Learning and Innovation Complex (CLIC), 574 Boston Ave is a great space for group projects and brainstorming sessions. It has a more open, industrial vibe and is filled with whiteboards, breakout areas, and flexible seating. I love coming here when I’m working on team-based assignments or want a space that sparks creativity.
5. So Many Vibes, So Many Options
What makes Tufts special is not just the number of places to study, but the diversity of spaces available. Whether you're someone who needs total silence, background buzz, natural light, or a cozy corner, there's a place that suits you. And with such a vibrant and diverse student body, each space has its own culture and energy—you’ll find your favorites in no time.
Studying at Tufts isn’t a one-size-fits-all, and that’s what makes it amazing. You get to figure out how and where you work best, and with so many spaces across campus, you’ll always have options. I usually find myself working at 574 Boston Ave, especially during exam season, and I’ll head to Edward Ginn every now and then when I really need to focus. But if I ever want to switch it up, I know I always have the option to!
