Summer 2013!

Jun 01
Jumbo Talk

The last two months of my junior year flew by!! I studied, I did problem sets, I stayed up late. I got free funnel cake at Tuftonia’s Day, I went to Spring Fling. Finals happened. I stressed about them. I stayed for senior week and said goodbye to the wonderful class of 2013. When I look back on this year, I can’t believe so much can happen in such a short amount of time. So now my junior year is over. I had buckets of fun :) and I didn’t have fun; I had good times and bad times.Time passes so strangely when I’m at school. So much gets done and so much happens and each day seems long and yet, the weeks and months fly.  After graduation, I went home to South Jersey where I’ve been pretty much doing NOTHING and LOVING it! :D And now, I’m about to head back to Tufts for my first summer in Boston!!

I love summer!! :) I love the beach, I love swimming, I love walking around barefoot, I love sundresses, I love re-reading the Harry Potter series (the PERFECT summer activity), I love toasting marshmallows. And I love being home home instead of Tufts home (oh haiiii, New Jersey!!). But this summer is new, and I’m excited. I left the internship I’d had since freshman year with BAE Systems, which is pretty scary. I’m leaving the routine I’m used to and the people I came to know and trust. I’m leaving my comfort zone. So next week, I’m starting an internship with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, working in the construction contracts group. I have no idea what to expect, or what it’s going to be like. But I’m excited to meet new people, other interns, and I’m especially excited that several other friends from my class will be joining me! I’ll also be studying for the GRE’s this summer and looking up graduate programs (WHAT.), maybe studying for the FE (fundamentals of engineering exam) (WHAT.), and starting research for the civil and environmental engineering department. I guess I should get packing, then! Until next time, NJ :)

So here’s to summer 2013! To my big brothers and sisters of 2013, congratulations, I love you, and please stay in touch! To the civil engineering class of 2013, thanks for all your advice, wisdom, and humor! To the class of 2015, I couldn’t believe you guys were sophomores, and now I can’t believe you’ll be juniors. To those of you going abroad, I wish you FANTASTIC adventures :D and WONDERFULLY new experiences. To 2016, I’ve loved getting to know you this year. And to my first FOCUS fam :), you guys are wonderful!<3 To 2017 (WOOOOOO!!!!!!), I hope you are all PUMPED, ecstatic, jittery, enthused, hopping-up-and-down excited to get to campus in August! You should know, we love you already!

And to my beloved 2014, I’m so ready for us to be back together, to hear and share stories from around the world. Let’s have the best senior year!!<3

As always, comment/email me if you have any questions! :)
