Applying to Tufts

Admission to Tufts is a holistic process that considers all aspects of your application including transcripts, extra-curricular and community engagement, essays, recommendation letters, personal attributes and interests, and standardized testing (when submitted). The Admissions Committee is looking for students with strong academic profiles who will enrich our campus community in myriad ways.

At Tufts, we accept the Common Application, the Coalition Application, and we are a QuestBridge college partner. We have no preference among application options.

First-Year Applicants may apply to Tufts through any of our three admissions rounds: Early Decision I, Early Decision II, and Regular Decision. The Early Decision Program is a binding option for students who have decided that Tufts is their first choice and that they will enroll if accepted. Early Decision deadlines allow the student to apply and be notified well in advance of the Regular Decision notification dates.

Application Deadlines

Application Type  Application Deadline Notification Date
Early Decision I November 4, 2024 Mid-December
Early Decision II January 6, 2025 Early February
Regular Decision January 6, 2025 By April 1

Applicants apply to either the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering, or the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts. Alternatively, students may apply to the five-year BFA + BA/BS Combined Degree program between the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts and the School of Arts and Sciences. Students are only considered for admission to the School to which they apply; enrolled students may take classes across all three Schools.

Submitting the Application

All application materials are submitted online via the Common Application website, Coalition Application or Scoir websites, or through the QuestBridge National College Match application, including high school transcripts and letters of recommendation. Materials that cannot be sent electronically may be mailed to:
