It’s winter break! I always look forward to winter break because I get to go back to sunny California to relax before the spring semester. Since I’m on winter break right now, I wanted to share a couple of things you can do over the break.
The first thing is to rest! Winter break in college tends to be longer than high school and I usually spend at least some time doing nothing. After finals and other tasks I need to complete before the semester ends, doing nothing and relaxing is something that I look forward to. I catch up on Netflix shows and movies and read books I’ve been meaning to read.
The second thing is catching up on any career/internship-related materials. You can update your LinkedIn (or create one!), do a micro winter internship, and revamp your resume! This will come in handy and your future self will be so glad you did this during your break. When it comes time to apply for summer internships, fellowships, or jobs, you will already have a nice resume and an updated LinkedIn! The Tufts Career Center has a lot of helpful resources for finding internships, editing your resume, and you can even make an appointment to speak with a career center advisor!
Winter break is a time to rest, catch up, and have fun! It’s really important to take breaks to prevent burnout. I try to visit my favorite places back in my hometown, go on a quick getaway, and catch up on the things I have been meaning to get to. It’s ultimately up to you how you want to spend your break but here are some ideas! Here is the link to the Tufts Career Center website: https://careers.tufts.edu
