If you love music, you might already know that Tufts boasts nine a cappella groups, sixteen performance ensembles through the music department, and a dual degree program with the New England Conservatory. But what if you’re just an avid concert-goer? You’re in luck—Boston has plenty of concert venues, too!
TD Garden is home to sporting events and entertainment events alike. My sophomore year roommate saw The Arctic Monkeys and The Black Keys there. OK Go is playing at the House of Blues on April 9! My friend Alexandra saw Jukebox the Ghost at Blue Hills Bank Pavilion earlier this year—it’s an outdoor amphitheater, so I hope it was warm! My cousin's band, Shark?--you might have heard their song "California Gurls" on Grand Theft Auto 5--even performed in Somerville last year!
My personal favorite performance venue, though, is The Burren. I’m pretty much a regular on Thursday nights, when Scattershot plays. Singing along (badly) to classic 80s music is always a good way to start my weekend! Here’s a short compilation of some of the songs they’ve played over the last month or so:
And if you’re not the type to venture off-campus for big name artists, you’re in luck: Tufts brings them to campus once a year for Spring Fling. Kesha is performing this year. I’m extremely excited.
