So, last night, I was recounting the events of a lunch date I’d had this past week with someone I met on Tinder, when one of my suite mates came out of her room and very frustratedly exclaimed, “HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FIND ANYTHING ABOUT THE GERMAN YOUSH INITIAIVE. Wait. Not yoush. Youth. I CAN’T EVEN ENGLISH RIGHT NOW HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DEUTSCH?”
The the three of us already in the hallway burst out laughing.
College is very often a stressful time for us students. We’re not only learning a whole lot of academic information related to our futures (what is that? I don’t know what this “fyoo-chur” thing is), but we’re also learning how to ‘life’ and ‘adult’.
Jokes apart, one of the main reasons I’ve stayed sane in the whirlwind that has been this last year, is having a great group of friends, and a wonderful wonderful group of people to live with. There are times when you really just need to lose your head laughing, or just have the most mindless, pointless conversations that are so important to keeping a balance. So I suppose they’re not really pointless… ANYWAY.
The other day a suite mate and I were looking at lingerie online (adoreme.com is the way to go), and we were laughing about the ridiculousness of some thongs when another suite mate walked in and told us he could one up that. We then proceeded to look up on amazon male lingerie - with models actually wearing these articles of clothing. Needless to say it was an … exposing experience.
My suite mates keep me laughing, and are one of my biggest supports on campus. I could honestly not picture college without them because they make everything better. Whether it’s the tightest hug, very comforting head massage-things, ‘meow-ing’ conversations, making out with each others faces (clarification- this is not a giant orgy- it’s just a very amusing way that a friend of mine described us kissing each other on the cheek), or just plain rants about obnoxious people we meet, or failed dating escapades- we’re there for each other through the ups and downs of college.
So, I’m going to take this blog post to give them a big shout out- Here’s to y’all.
