Blogs are fun because it gives you insight into what someone is thinking and their perspective on things. I’ve shared a lot about the things I love about Tufts in my previous blogs. So, this time around, I thought it would be nice to get a new perspective on what being a Tufts student is like. I decided to interview my friend Joanne Lau who is a senior majoring in Community Health!
Question 1: “What is your favorite meal on campus? In Davis Square?”
“The Pita plate at Hodge is my favorite because it’s a balanced meal. The eggplants are my favorite but there’s also falafels, chicken shawarma, and lamb. Hodge is really convenient and great for people on the go. I order on the mobile app and pick it up, so it’s super easy and quick. There are so many great options and all my friends love it too. In Davis Square, my favorite place to stop by is the Davis Square Hand Crafted Donuts & Bagels. It’s a cute little shop and it has big donuts and bagels. It’s so worth it and you should try their homemade bacon scallion cream cheese and the Blueberry Old Fashioned Glazed.”
Question 2: “What is your favorite class at Tufts?”
“My favorite class at Tufts is CH131: Quantitative Research Methods with Professor Acevedo. She is a great professor and she is very kind. This class is what really got me interested in working with quantitative data. It gave me useful technical skills (using Stata–statistical software package) which I know I will continue to use in graduate school and eventually in my career as a community health professional. Also, the semester-long independent research project helped explore my own interest deeply in public health. Zaya was also in the class and I’m continuing to work with both her and Professor Acevedo––and using Stata!”
Question 3: “What is your favorite memory?”
“Apple picking with the Tufts University Social Collective (TUSC) is my favorite memory because I was FINALLY able to get tickets this year after not being able to get them in my previous years. Tickets are first-come first-serve, so I was happy to be able to go on the trip this year as a senior. At the apple orchard, the apple cider donuts were amazing! I was able to get cute fall photos to preserve the memories. My friends and I came back with bags of apples and my suitemates and I baked a pie with them!”
It was fun to interview her because I learned something new and I hope this was helpful for you to get a different insight into Tufts!
