Welcome to November!
Midterms are over and we’ve all got some lovely, newfound free time on our hands. Good thing the SMFA is nestled right in the middle of the best city in the Northeast! Here are some wintry ways to have fun in and around the wonderful Boston, Massachusetts!
1. Ice Skating
City Hall Plaza is a great spot to skate your worries away in Boston! Lace up those skates and grab some friends for a night of fun.
2. Snowball Fight on the Fens
Need I say more? Once the first dustings come down, all you have to do is head across the street from the SMFA for access to a peaceful stream, beautiful nature, and, of course, high-velocity snowballs.
3. Hot Cocoa Pit Stop
There are tons of lovely places in Boston to get brunch, tea, or hot chocolate! If you’re looking for something quick and a lil' cheaper, try Cafe Nero or Neighborhoods Cafe (yeah crepes!). Of course, if you’re in peak Nor’Easter weather, you can always grab a cocoa from the SMFA cafe and curl up in the library to watch the snow fall.
4. Sledding on the PresLawn
The Tufts Medford campus hills can be a liiiiiiittle steep sometimes (especially when you’re sprinting up one to make it to class!). But in the winter, Tufts’ hills make for an epic sledding stop. Hop on the SMFA-Medford shuttle for a blast from your childhood sledding past!
5. Boston Common Tree Lighting
Each year, a massive Christmas tree gets lit up in Boston Common. Check out the amazing ceremony, complete with music and ice skating, to get yourself in the festive spirit!
These are just a few of the ways to make the most out of a Boston winter. Bundle up, stay warm, and enjoy the city with some of the coolest art students out there!
