A Day in the Life - Fall 2021
This semester Tufts is bustling with nostalgia and welcome changes. I’ve reached the halfway point of my college career and I can confidently say…
Ah, Veteran’s Day. A day to honor our nation’s bravest, and for college kids, a day to sleep in and take a day off from school. Except I did not sleep in, nor did I take a day off. Here was my schedule on Veteran’s Day.
6:00am – Alarm goes off. I turn it off, and go back to sleep, knowing I have two more alarms set anyway.
6:30am – My final alarm goes off and I grudgingly get out of bed. I take a minute or two to just stand up, upset at the fact that I’m awake.
7:00am – I finish showering and start to get dressed. My outfit has to last me for an entire day of activity.
7:30am – I finish getting dressed, finish brushing my teeth and doing my hair, and finish packing my bag for the day. I head out and cross campus in the rain, headed for the TUTV station.
7:45am – I arrive at the TUTV station, just in time for crew call. I’m there to direct my own short film, so I can’t really be upset at the early time.
8:00am – My team and I leave the station, arms and backs loaded with equipment and costumes. We head for the Balch Arena Theatre, where we’re filming today.
8:30am – We start filming, cast having arrived 15 minutes earlier. It’s exhausting, but incredible.
12:45pm – We wrap our final scene of the day and head back to the station. Luckily the rain has stopped.
1:20pm – We finish uploading our footage and head over to Dewick, the better dining hall (fight me). I enjoy my small break of the day, and have a great conversation with some of my crew members. We plan our next short film.
2:45pm – I finish eating and leave the dining hall with one other girl. I get changed into paint clothes, and by 3pm we’re backstage at Balch, mixing paints. I’m joined by 2 others, and we paint sets for an upcoming 3Ps show.
6pm – I leave the paint session and walk over to rehearsal for a play I’m in. Rehearsal lasts for a little over an hour. I have about a half hour to squeeze in dinner.
7:40pm – I meet a professor to discuss how I’m doing in the class, and go over a project I had trouble with.
8:42pm – I run to a meeting at the TUTV station, which I’m exceedingly late for. I’m at the meeting until 10pm.
10:10pm – I finally return home, and begin homework for my early Thursday classes.
1:30am – I let myself be done with homework, and get ready for bed.
This is not the ideal schedule to have on a day off from school. Sophomore year has certainly been a time to figure out my limits, see how far I can go. I’ve learned this semester that while overcommitting helps me try new things and meet new people, it’s also a good way to help my grades go down. I was lucky enough to be involved in three theatrical productions and a film production this semester. I have a job I love and took classes I loved. And I don’t think I would go back and eliminate an activity if I could. But I’m looking forward to balancing my life a little bit better next semester. So here’s to what will hopefully be a strong end to a semester that helped me get stronger.

Hello everyone and welcome to a day in my life! I decided to take you through my Thursday since it’s my busiest but most exciting day of the week…
Before I started college, I had no idea what a typical day would look like for me. Going from high school where I had 9 40-minute classes that started…
