Greetings cyberspace.
Great news from Tufts Football! As a team during this offseason, we have broken numerous school (meaning all the years that Tufts has even been around) weightlifting records. And they include:
1) Deadlift - 640 lbs - freshman defensive lineman Ife Adebayo
2) Squat - 610 lbs - freshman defensive lineman Ife Adebayo
3) Pull-ups – 35 reps – junior QB Matt Johnson
4) One-arm push-ups – 57 reps – freshman linebacker Mike Paloian
5) Triple-clap push-ups – 7 reps – freshman Garrett Ewanouski
6) AND, the soon to be broken Bench Press record, at 410 lbs by freshman offensive tackle Akene Farmer-Michos
Something new that the football team has implemented this offseason is the Max-out Bell. Every time a player lifts more than he ever has on any particular lift, he goes and rings the bell. And I’ll tell you this, that bell has been ringing A LOT during this offseason.
As for DU, and for those who don’t know, DU (Delta Upsilon) is one of the fraternities on Tufts campus. And if I don’t say so myself, it is THEE best frat on campus (up for debate?). Anyways, pledging is entering its 5th week now, and nothing beats being a brother. You can attend every mixer the frat hosts with the sororities, you can hang out in the house, you become great friends with all the other brothers, and, not to mention, you can get some sweet hook-ups with alumni if you’re looking for a job.
Everyone should take this into consideration: Tufts is NOT one of those crazy southern school frats that you see on TV or in the movies, where the pledges are ridiculed, spat on, embarrassed, and forced to do absurd things. Absurdity at Tufts takes a meaning of its own, and its up to you to find out once you get here.
On the school side of things, Spring Break honestly can’t come soon enough. Boston, I love you. You are THE college town of college towns. Your sports teams are legendary. Your food is exquisite. Your public transportation is unbeatable. Your colleges and universities are the best of the best. But I’ll tell you what, nothing beats getting home to Cali for a little bit of warmth during late March.
