Happy 2018!
I began blogging for Tufts Admissions in early 2016. I was excited to share my experiences as I transitioned to Tufts and the U.S. I set out hoping to share everything: the good things and the challenges. Two years later, I am actualizing that hope. Starting with this post, I will regularly take stock of my life: hopes, dreams, stresses, plans, projects, joys, anxieties, frustrations and everything in between. OK, let’s take stock.
Writing a lot of emails for Leonard Carmichael Society (LCS) – the umbrella body for community service at Tufts. I just took over as co-president on 1/1/2018, and I am learning a lot and making connections.
Making plans for 2018. I want to live so fully, courageously and passionately this year.
Thinking about my place as an international student from Africa currently living in the U.S. I can’t really express my emotions regarding President’s Trump alleged comments referring to Haiti and African countries as “s***hole countries.” A friend advised me to turn all emotions I have into motivation, and I will.
Hoping to continue taking care of myself and my mental health, and encouraging friends to do the same.
Enjoying these last few days of winter break. As soon as classes resume, it gets very busy very fast.
Wanting to explore Boston more this semester. Tufts is basically a short bus/T ride away (less than an hour) from most places in Boston. I want to take advantage of that.
Watching Oprah Winfrey’s speech at the Golden Globes.
Reading the Princess saves herself in this one by Amanda Lovelace. Aah, all the feelings!
Feeling grateful for this winter break. I visited Europe for the first time! I have always wanted to visit Amsterdam, and the city exceeded my expectations. I also celebrated Christmas and New Years in Paris - It was a great experience!
Considering whether I want to study abroad. A lot of Tufts students study abroad during their junior year and I want to have that experience too. I am already studying abroad here so I don’t know?
Liking the fact that I get to see my Tufts friends soon.
Wishing you an amazing year ahead.
Thank you so much for reading!
