There’s a rumor in St. Petersburg!
And that is that St. Petersburg is the most beautiful place in the world. And it is not a rumor, it is a fact.
Let the cliché begin, as I describe how I felt exactly like the lost princess Anastasia the whole time I was there. Every building lining the street was a palace, ornate columns rising out of the ground, gold lined windows and doors calling out to ages past. We went to the ballet to watch Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky, and sat in red velvet seats with a glorious chandelier floating above our heads. We ate in a dark little café where Pushkin once ate his last meal before dueling to death with his wife’s alleged lover. Finally, we took an overnight train home to Moscow, with our own little room and our own little window through which to watch the giant snow dipped pine trees fly past.
What a vision, I’ll never forget!
In other news, back to school soon! Hoorah for the brown and blue!
Hope all the college apps have gone well – now you enter the worst period of the college process: waiting. Try to distract yourselves somehow. Write me a song and I’ll write you one in return!
