“Ladies and gentlemen, our flight will land at Chengdu International Airport shortly, please fasten your seat belt and……” Six of my best friends just arrived at Chengdu and started our graduation trip.
As we finished our last AP test, the farewell season for our high school officially begins. Although schools have different schedules, many things have happened for the last time in high school. Our last class, last pickup basketball game, last orchestra rehearsal, last MUN club meeting. Time really flies. We will go to different universities and live different lives. But at least we can all spend the rest of our high school with our friends preciously. Here's some of my advice on how to spend our last days in high school.
#1: Travel together
No matter where you are on this planet, you can always find a place that is fascinating and yet you haven’t visited. Take this graduation season to visit these places. As the lyric says: “It’s got mountains, it’s got rivers, it’s got sights to give you shivers. But it sure would be prettier with you.” Indeed, friends can chat with you the whole night about the life of past 4 years. They can help you to carry your luggage if you need a hand. The meaning of travel with friends is far more than the sceneries. The number of people doesn't matter, you can go with your one best friend or many fellows from your classes. The point is to enjoy the time you guys can spend together.
#2: Hold sports games with other grades.
Sports has always been an essential thing in high school life. Do you still remember how many friends you have made on the court; how many anecdotes have happened during games. The answer for me, as a basketball guy, is “countless.” So gear up and make all these happen again. Besides, my suggestion is to hold sports games with lower grades. While having fun with them, tell them some experiences on and off the court. And that’s what you can at least contribute to your school.
#3: Thank your teachers in various ways
I don’t think I need to emphasize the role of teachers. But how we can thank them needs a little thought. You can just write a letter, express your gratitude. While this is the easiest way, this is also going to be the most touching way. Or you can give some small present to them. It could be a photo you took together with your teachers, a pen that is suitable for your teacher. Just something small and meaningful. Last but not least, you can give your teachers a surprise. In the last class of a certain teacher, you guys can stand up together and say “Thank you Mr. / Mrs.” If you think this is too shocking for your teacher, you can draw a picture on the white board that expresses gratitude.
#4: Write a small note to everyone you care about
Now you are about to leave people that you cared about for 4 years. The best way to say goodbye I think is to give a small note. It could be short or long, you can express your feelings for him or her, or you can give he or she some hint on how to be a better man/woman. Your friends will care about what you said.
So guys, just cherish these last moments in your high school and with your friends. Keep up as many friendship as you can and you will be grateful in the future to have those guys in your life.
