THANK YOU!!!!
So today we had our end of the year blogger meeting where we talked about how the blog went this year. Bottom line- it was awesome. I had no idea how many of you read this and it made me so happy. I was even more excited to find out that I had the most page views of any blog!!!!! I actually didn't believe it for a second. First of all, I don't think I'm particularly interesting, and second of all, I never win anything. Seriously. I've never even won a game of bingo, and now I win at blogging? Wow. So I wanted to say thank you to everyone who reads the silly and random posts I write. I appreciate it so so much and the success of my page is really because of you, not me.
Don't worry, this isn't the last you'll hear from me. Expect posts over the summer and from IRELAND next year. As always, please feel free to email me with any questions you might have about Tufts. I love hearing from you!
ALL my Jumbo love,
Kelly
Go With Your Gut
In a few days, all of you will know where you're going to college. Your deposit will be submitted, your spot reserved, your name withdrawn from other schools. Maybe some of you will make your decision without much debate. Others of you might be going back and forth, putting off making a decision until the very last second. For those of you, the best advice I can give is to go with your gut.
Wether you visited campus, spoke with students, or just obsessively stalked the websites of where you applied, think about what place gives you a warm feeling inside. Imagine yourself walking around campus, talking to the students, sitting in the lecture halls. Stop thinking about the student: faculty ratio or the reputation- you applied to the schools you did because they had the things you wanted. Any school you end up at will have a variety of resources and amazing programs. Own your decision- make it personal. Base it on the things that they don't tell you on the tour, the things you can only discover...
I'M STUDYING ABROAD!
YOU GUYS!!!!! I JUST GOT ADMITTED TO THE THEATER DEPARTMENT AT TRINITY DUBLIN FOR THE FALL!!!!!
I am the most excited. The happiest panda. ALL OF THE PANDA EXCITEMENT.
I should get back to studying for my Big Bang Through Humankind test but I had to freak out about that for a second with y'all. This means that next year I'll be posting about Irish theater. It will be awesome :-)
Romeo + Juliet
One of my favorite parts of Tufts theater is that there's always something new and different going on. Tonight is opening night for a production of Romeo + Juliet with a twist. While the show uses the original text, it doesn't happen in a theater- it takes place all across campus. The library roof, Goddard Chapel, the academic quad...the actors (and the audience) move around to to different locations between scenes.
The show is part of senior Katie Welch's thesis project. She's studying Child Development as well as theater and wanted to explore the adolescence of the tragic title characters. The production is being put on by Bare Bodkin, a student theater group that produces and workshops experimental and student written theater. My friend Jeff (HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEFF!!!!!) saw the dress rehearsal last night and said it's amazing. If you live in the area, try to see it! There are shows tonight (April 12) at 7, tomorrow (April 13) at 6, and Friday (April 15) at 4:30 and it begins on the library...
