Another Reason to love Tufts
My day in a nutshell.

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL
On Watching Baby Jumbos
After a little lag time to let the new class of 2016 try to figure things out, I joined the facebook group to see if there were any questions that I could answer or a jumbo I could host. When I was in the same position as many of you are in now, I was wary of joining the group. It can be scary inserting yourself into a group of perfect strangers, but ultimately it turned out well.
Now, if any of you are from 2015, you know how great that group was, and I'm happy to say, still is. We all chatted in threads, on huge skype conversations, and in person at various meet ups around the US and in other countries. We learned about each other and it got to the point where nobody had any shame about acting a little silly. Midway through the summer, a whole group of people had changed their profile pictures to muppets characters (I snatched up Beaker ASAP) and proceeded to post whole conversations on a fellow Jumbo's wall just so that it would look like Sesame Street had...
Back to School
Ice cream, carrots, and movies, oh my! Julia's how-to guide for having a relatively transition back to the grind.
Down by the River
When I came to Tufts, my single biggest fear was the freshman 15. I know it happens, I just didn’t want it to happen to me. So on the days that I didn’t have tae kwon do practice, I would throw on my shoes and head out. This is when good peer pressure sets in. One of my friends had to cut some weight for a tournament, and we’d go out running together. Now it’s become a daily ritual, providing I’m not injured. Even if I have to run alone or at night (with a friend, of course), I still make an effort to get out there every day and get some cardio in. Besides using it to stay in a weight class, running has become a cathartic experience. It’s a nice way to take a break from all the mental work and stress and do something physical for a change.
There are a lot of nice places to go around Tufts, and I’m sure I’ll find more as the years go on, but at the moment, my favorite is a five-mile run to Mystic Lake and back. It can be extended longer than that, and I’m sure I’ll do that at some...
TUTKD
Last weekend, I went five and a half hours out of my way to get beaten up (along with the rest of the tae kwon do team). Twenty one fighters, three cars, two coaches, one tournament.
