Is it essential for me to attend Jumbo Days?
While Jumbo Days give students an excellent opportunity to preview their future life at Tufts, we understand not everyone will be able to attend. We will be hosting Admitted Student Question and Answer Sessions, lunch hosted by current students, and regular Information Sessions and Tours throughout the month of April for students who are unable to attend Jumbo Days. What if I'm a BFA or Combined Degree student?
BFA and Combined Degree students are encouraged to attend Jumbo Days on April 20th, when they will be able to meet their admitted peers and visit the SMFA at Tufts Fenway campus. The day will begin on the Medford/Somerville campus with a welcome for all admitted students. Following the morning presentation, BFA students will be transported to the SMFA at Tufts Fenway campus for special programming, including a welcome from Dean Nancy Bauer and tours of the SMFA at Tufts residence halls (historic brownstones on Beacon Street). BFA students should keep their luggage with them during the morning presentation and take it with them when they leave for the SMFA. Combined Degree students will be transported to the SMFA at Tufts Fenway campus in the afternoon to attend special programming and should bring their luggage with them at this time. All BFA/Combined Degree students will return to the Tufts Medford/Somerville campus at the day's conclusion. If you are unable to attend Jumbo Days on April 20th, you are welcome to attend on the 13th or 19th. Where do I park?
Click here for directions to the parking lot opposite Cousens Gymnasium, which is located at 161 College Ave, Medford MA 02155. Parking is very limited in that lot and will likely fill up very early in the morning. When that lot becomes full, please park in the seven-story parking garage in Dowling Hall, at 419 Boston Ave, Medford MA 02155 (also shown in the directions page, link above). Parking will be free on Jumbo Days, and the gates of the parking garage will remain open all day.Back to top

Absolutely! Our program officially ends at 4:00 PM but we understand that some of our guests may need to leave early.Back to top
May I stay overnight with a current Tufts undergraduate?
Yes, we offer an overnight experience for students admitted in Regular Decision. Current students residing in Tufts on-campus housing have volunteered to host admitted students on the evenings prior to each Jumbo Days event. You can request an overnight upon registering for Jumbo Days. Space is limited and provided on a first come, first serve basis. All overnight visits occur the night before Jumbo Days. Check-in for the overnight is from 2-4 PM at Alumnae Lounge in the Aidekman Arts Center. Students will eat dinner in the dining hall and, afterwards, will be matched with their host. There are various activities planned for admitted students throughout the evening. Breakfast will be available between 7-8 AM the next morning in Cousens Gym. The Welcome Ceremony begins at 8 AM.Back to top
Who can do an overnight stay for Jumbo Days?
Overnight spaces are available to students who were admitted through the Regular Decision process. We cannot offer overnight spaces to students who were accepted Early Decision. Unfortunately, overnight spaces are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.Back to top
May I request to be housed in a specific Residence Hall?
Due to the anticipated high demand for housing during Jumbo Days and capacity restriction in the dormitories, we will not be accepting requests to be housed in specific college houses or dorms.Back to top
I would prefer to make my own housing arrangements or my friend has invited me to stay with him/her. Is this okay?
Sure! You are welcome to make your own housing arrangements on or off campus if you know of a current Tufts student who is willing to host you. On many occasions, coaches will organize overnights for recruited athletes to stay with current players, and that is also totally acceptable.Back to top
Am I allowed to bring a guest(s) with me to Jumbo Days?
We encourage you to bring parents, siblings, guardians or other guests to accompany you to Jumbo Days. We ask that you indicate how many guests you are bringing with you upon registering.Back to top
Is there specific programming for parents/guardians?
The majority of the day will be dedicated to highlighting various facets of the undergraduate experience, from mock classes to open houses (student services, academic departments, athletics, cultural houses, etc.) to the community fair that will showcase 50+ student groups. Both parents/guardians and students are welcome at these events, and you may go together or divide and conquer (if you each go to a different class and compare notes, you get even more info!).
There will, however, be specific programming for parents/guardians and students, respectively. At 9:30 am, students will attend their first mock class while parents/guardians hear from the Dean of Student Affairs about support systems for students as well as Tufts’ commitment to academic excellence, diversity, inclusion, and global perspective. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A. Parents will have the opportunity to attend a mock class afterwards. In the afternoon, students will attend The First-Year Experience, during which a student panel will talk about their freshman year, provide advice, and answer whatever questions prospective students might have. At the same time, parents/guardians will be hearing from representatives from Career Services.Back to top
What items do I need to bring with me?
If you are staying overnight, please bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, toiletries, and clothing. We recommend that you bring a rain coat just in case! You will be provided dinner in the dining hall during your overnight visit as well as a bagel breakfast and dining hall lunch the following day (our dining halls are well-versed in allergies and special diets. Find more information here). If you'd like, you can bring a little spending cash to cover snacks, incidentals, or personal purchases. We also highly recommend that you bring a cell phone in case we need to contact you for any reason while you are on campus.Back to top
What should I do with my luggage from the overnight stay during Jumbo Days?
You may store your luggage with us in Cousens Gymnasium at Registration. We will have someone manning the luggage storage until 4:30 PM so that your things are safe. However, you must remove your luggage by 4:30 PM at the latest. Our event ends at 4:00 PM.Back to top
