Tufts is International

Founded in 1852, Tufts is recognized as one of the premier research universities in the United States. For many decades Tufts has enjoyed a global reputation for academic excellence and a long tradition of attracting students from all over the globe and preparing them to be leaders in a rapidly changing international community. The second oldest institution of higher learning in metropolitan Boston, Tufts offers undergraduate and graduate opportunities to nearly 8,000 students. Tufts balances teaching with research where professors bring elements of their research into undergraduate classes. There are currently over 65 countries represented in the undergraduate student body. Of the 4,800 undergraduates, 8% are non-U.S. citizens. Furthermore, nearly 15% of the students are foreign citizens, permanent residents, or U.S. citizens who live overseas.

Shani

Welcome from our International Intern

Hi everyone! My name is Shani Scheiman and I'm the international recruiting intern for admissions. I'm a sophomore hailing from Finland and though still officially undeclared, I plan on majoring in International Relations with a possible double major in French and if my love-hate relationship with Economics settles, a minor in Economics. Here at Tufts anything to do with the international community has pretty much taken over my non-academic life: I serve on the board for the International Club and I was a host advisor for International Orientation and according to some of my friends, "will take part in anything even remotely internationally oriented". In addition to that, I am also a tour guide and help out around admissions and I am a contributing writer for one of our campus publications, The Public Journal. After graduation - though that is still far away - I plan on pursuing my interest in International Relations with a Master's Degree somewhere in Europe.
