Campus & Beyond

Standing atop the library roof at Tufts (see comic below by student Chase Gregory), you will be afforded two impressive vistas. Looking eastward, you have a clear view of the Boston skyline: the eclectic architecture that denotes one of the country's most exciting cities. Turning toward the west, you see the president's lawn: a rolling green hill adorned with hundred-year-old oak trees.

This spot epitomizes the extraordinary location of the undergraduate campus. At Tufts, we offer a rare duo: a beautiful residential campus and easy access to an exciting metropolis. You'll truly have the best of both worlds.

Your Campus

The minute you step on campus, you will feel at home. Students look genuinely happy here, and it's not hard to understand why. Envision yourself crossing the academic quad on your way to class, reading a book under an enormous tree, or playing a pick-up soccer game on the residential quad. Welcome to life at Tufts.

The undergraduate campus was built on a hill, and over the years students have informally divided it into "uphill" and "downhill". The Mayer Campus Center - home to the University bookstore, a lounge with pool tables and television, study areas, student association offices and three eateries - is at the heart of our institution, which is a testament to the importance of student life at Tufts.

Uphill you'll find the residential and academic quads, the Tisch library, tennis courts, and the president's lawn, a prime place for sledding in the winter. Head downhill to find the Aidekman Arts Center, athletic fields, and additional academic and residential buildings. "Over the hill" is the Anderson Engineering building, Cousens Gym and the Gantcher Athletic Center , the baseball diamond and everyone's favorite campus coffee shop: Brown & Brew.

The Tufts undergraduate campus is meticulously maintained and features gorgeous seasonal gardens. Year round, it is a wonderful place to call home.
