Everything you need to apply to Tufts, including our online supplement, is hosted by the Common Application.
In this section of the website, you can find everything you need to know about our application, from instructions to statistics on this year's freshman class.
As I often tell students; the admissions process is more art than science. It's meticulous and holistic, not simply numbers-driven. We assess "match" and look for students who genuinely want to make a difference. So take this as an opportunity to think about you, and how your curiosity, leadership and passion fit into Tufts University.
If recent history is a guide, more than 15, 000 students from around the world will seek one of the 1,275 places in our next first-year class. Given the volume, Tufts' admission process will be a "most selective" one but it should not be an intimidating one. As dean of undergraduate admissions, I pledge that our consideration of your application will be thorough, thoughtful, and fair.
Each candidate will complete the same application forms and admission requirements but it is our hope that you use these common denominators to differentiate yourself. You have a voice. Let's hear it! Tell us your story, in your own words. Share your intellectual passions and personal aspirations with members of the selection committee. Describe how your home environment shaped the person you are today. Reflect on your self-identity and opinions. How might your personal background and interests challenge and inspire your peers in a Tufts classroom or during a late night discussion? Your ability to frame your application in this way enables the admissions committee to evaluate your preparedness for a Tufts education as well as your "fit" with the university and its offerings.
Tufts prepares leaders who will address the great intellectual and social challenges of the new century, people who can create and interpret new information that serves the common good. Students often tell us they want to "make a difference" in the world. Tufts shares that goal" how can we achieve it together? Is there a Tufts professor or curricular opportunity that catches your eye? How will Tufts' reputation for excellence in the liberal arts and engineering shape your intellectual journey?
Tufts undergraduates are active learners with an abiding curiosity and a willingness to try new things. Our curriculum is discussion-oriented and writing intensive. Our course of study emphasizes critical reasoning, a creative approach to problem-solving, and the social skills that put theory into practice. As you complete your Common Application and the Tufts Supplement, highlight these attributes. Be candid and straightforward in your responses. Argue your case. Be authentic.
Good luck in your college search,
